Our family just recently moved into our new home. While unpacking I came across a poem my mother-in-law gave me when my husband and I moved into our first apartment together. I have kept this poem after all these years and when I read it again recently I realized that it had to be the Spirit of God that moved her to give us this gift. Today I want to share the words of this poem with you. I hope it encourages someone
Don’t Quit
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is strange with its twist and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how
close you are,
It may be near when it
seems so far;
So stick to the fight when
you’re hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worse,
that you must not quit. – Author Unknown
This poem reminds me of Galatians 6:9 which says, So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Thank you Mindy
There’s a lot of wisdom in that poem!
Yes there is Carol that is why I have kept it so long
